Interesting most of the reviews say the performance(hp) of the engine improves and the mpg stays about the same. I would say my performance stayed about the same and my mpg went down a good 2-3 mpg. I am rather disappointed by this product in how it has mostly hurt the performance of my 2008 Civic. I suppose you can do worse, but like maybe those other products that are supposed to do great things for your car(like oil additives), just save the extra $40-50 and replace your air filter with any ok one every 50,000 and you will be allright. I can't recommend the K&N.

Installed this in a '09 Civic and the engine runs a lot smoother and less hard on highway speeds. However, the MPG didn't really improve that much - around 0.5 - 1 MPG improvement. Still, I highly recommend it!
Noticed a slight difference immediately after replacement May 25, 2010

After replacing the air filter in my 2007 Honda Civic coupe with 20K miles, which took less than 5 minutes (if you have not done it before, check out youtube video for how to replace your air filter), I noticed an almost immediate slight difference in the performance of the car, with slightly more power and acceleration speed (it could also be because the old air filter was very dirty). Don't know how the filter will perform in the long run, but if it does what it promises (which includes 50K miles before needing cleaning and lifetime warranty), it'll save cost and be better for environment.
As for Amazon, price was excellent (< $30 on sale), shipping was free (took about 1 week), online purchase was simple. The usual Amazon convenience.
drop-in replacement notably adds power May 20, 2010

This drop-in replacement fit my 2006 Honda Civic EX perfectly, taking only 3-4 minutes to install (no tools required).
The fit is just as good as the Honda OEM filter. The filter is notably skinnier than the standard filter.
Throttle responsiveness immediately felt peppier-- a quicker response when pressing the accelerator, a little more power on call (granted, the replaced air-filter was moderately dirty) But, the car hasn't felt this peppy since it was new.
Unlike others here, I have not noticed any notable variation in gas mileage. No noteworthy change in engine noise.
My only complaint is, why didn't I get one of these earlier, having been through a number of Honda OEM filters in the car's previous 79K miles? I put the included "don't throw me away" sticker on the airbox, hopefully the Honda dealer's technicians will respect that when I have the car serviced.
Highly recommended.

This K&N replacement air filter fits my 2006 Civic perfectly and took only 2 minutes to install. This filter is rechargeable so you never have to send it to a landfill. It does increase airflow into the engine and improves performance by increasing combustion. Though there was no noticeable increase in fuel economy the engine does seem to run better and cleaner. The long term economic and environmental benefit is well worth the slight added price of this air filter.
